My grandmother was an exceptional seamstress and I still have the quilts and things that she made for me. This skill was passed on to my mother and I have even on occasion sat down at a machine or with needle and thread.
My Mom does everything from alterations to things like Quilts, Madrigal and Elvis costumes to wedding dresses. She even works with the younger generation and is very active keeping this skill alive through the local 4-H Club.
My Mom made all the dresses for my sister's wedding...
(I actually made my daughter's Madrigal dress, but with her help!)
Vinda, a friend and former co-worker, is not only an exceptional seamstress but is pursuing a different direction that can only be described as a Quilt Artist. She has donated many hours to the creation of pink ribbon quilts that have been used to raise money for the Colorado Springs Komen Affiliate.
This is a quilted wallhanging that is a 3D representation of our 2007 race site - The Garden of the Gods! Lisa was the lucky winner and we raised approx. $400 for the affiliate! BUT, Vinda has decided to make others! They will be similar, but no two will be the same as she does not use a pattern...and can customize for YOU (dates, names, etc.) AND 30% of sale price will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure - Colorado Springs Affiliate! Email: quilt4pink@run2infinity.com for information!
This is the 2004 Quilt and as you can see has many icons representing the Colorado Springs area. Currently this travels to different events as an education and awareness piece and definitely a conversation starter!
Vinda teaches and has won many awards for her quilted artwork!
Please email me if you would like more information on how to contact either my Mom or Vinda for your sewing needs!
